WELCOME TO DET GYLDNE BLAD

Det Gyldne Blad creates prints and cards with illustrations made by Stephanie Donsø. Her work has a storytelling vibe that is meant for both big and small. Stephanie also stitches little collectable dolls, brooches & other handmade objects. With a base in Denmark Det Gyldne Blad is routed in a love for whimsical imagination, the seasons of the year and folksy Scandinavian folk art.

BEHIND - MY STORY

Behind Det Gyldne Blad you find me, Stephanie Donsø.

I have a background as a fine artist. Yet, to day my work crosses much the disciplinens of illustration and craft. No matter what kind of art I've made I have always had somekind of story in it. My earlier paintings and drawings often seemed to continue a story or scenery and I have always had an interest in the idea of characters, stories and themes. I think this may come from the fact that I grew up with a mother who worked (for twentyfive years) at the local library. I often went with her to work. I loved being there surrounded by books and their pictures. For a long time I forgot about how much this meant to me and my art went in many other directions. One day it just didn't feel right, like I was neglecting something in myself and I had so many hidden ideas. So, I started working towards these ideas and to get things going and embrace this path I came up with a name like a sentence from a story. A brand with items and pictures that should make you think of stories, childhood, memories and whimsical wonders.

In case you wonder: Det Gyldne Blad means The or That Golden Leaf. The name refers to Autumn leafs and a particular childhood memeory of mine. Thought a lot of my social writing and this shop as well is in English I have kept the name in Danish.

TO DAY

Stephanie and my Det Gyldne Blad offers greeting cards that are great to both send and frame as well as prints, paper dolls and other cut-outs plus little handmade dollies & objects, handstithed.

From my home studio I balances between freelance and self-inititated projects while also running this webshop with all that comes with it.
Sometimes you may find me and Det Gyldne Blad at craft and design markets (see more under News). Det Gyldne Blad cards and prints are also to be found in several craft and lifestyle shops in Denmark. Occassonally I return to my fine art and participates in group shows.

I'm not really a city person and I live in a town North from Copenhagen with my husband Thomas, two kids, a cat, two bunnies and some chickens in the garden. We live close to woods and lakes where I often go for walks and we have a house from 1959 that we have been restoring for years. I really love our garden which is a bit overgrown calling on lots of visits by birds, insects, hedgehogs and foxes (being a bit too fond of hour chickens and bunnies).
